Licensed Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist · Founder of CMHPC™

Jennifer Strotkamp has spent many years working at the intersection of clinical child and adolescent psychotherapy, family law expert assessment, and professional parent counseling. Throughout this time, she has encountered the same recurring reality: professionals working with distressed families search for a reliable framework that holds even when the situation does not.

The CMHPC™ system was built at exactly this intersection of theory and practice. It connects years of accumulated clinical experience with established scientific frameworks for work with distressed family systems. What Jennifer Strotkamp has developed honors both dimensions – methodically structured and scientifically grounded, without losing sight of the human beings at its center.

The Learning Format

Hybrid – Flexible, Practice-Oriented, Professional

The CMHPC™ qualification system is designed as a hybrid learning format. Hybrid here means asynchronous learning modules you complete at any time, combined from Level 2 onward with synchronous live supervision – both entirely online, with no in-person attendance. Level 1 is a pure self-study course. Professionals can participate from anywhere without interrupting their practice. Quality is fully maintained through standardized assessments and, from Level 2 onward, mandatory supervision formats and continuous professional guidance.

Learn when & where
you choose – with real professional guidance

Asynchronous learning modules – instructional videos, accompanying scripts, and module-based knowledge tests – are completed flexibly and independently of location. From Level 2 onward, the synchronous supervision sessions are mandatory and non-substitutable. They are where professional competence becomes visible, case work is reflected upon, and fidelity to the manual is verified. A deliberate design decision that makes flexibility and quality fully compatible.

Video on Demand

Structured instructional videos – modular, versioned, accessible anytime and anywhere

Digital Learning Materials

Structured learning materials, work aids, and documentation templates for download

Online Supervision

From Level 2: mandatory synchronous supervision formats – live, interactive, documented

Supervised Case Work

From Level 2: simulation-based case work with video responses, case reflection against standardized criteria

01

Flexible Scheduling

Asynchronous modules are available at any time – no mandatory attendance, no interruption to your professional work. You learn at your own pace.

02

Structured Quality Assurance

Module-based online tests, documented case work, and supervision protocols ensure competence acquisition – transparent and auditable under ISO 29993.

03

Practice Transfer Through Case Work

Simulation-based case work and structured practice reflection bridge theory and application. From Level 2, real intervention plans are developed under individual supervision.

04

International Participation

The format is location-independent and designed for international participation – without travel or accommodation costs, without geographic limitation.

05

Personal Professional Guidance

Qualified professionals are available for subject-related questions throughout the training. From Level 2 onward, mandatory, quality-assured supervision formats are added; Level 1 is completed as a self-study course.

06

A License, Not Just a Certificate

From Level 2 you acquire a genuine license to use the CMHPC™ program – with access to all materials and trademark authorization. A tangible asset for your practice.

The Qualification System

Four Sequential Qualification Levels

The four qualification levels of the CMHPC™ system are deliberately sequential. Each level requires successful completion of the previous one – academically, because content builds on prior learning, and in terms of licensing, because program delivery authorization is only acquired at Level 2. This sequentiality is an expression of the quality logic on which the entire system rests.

Continuing Education Credits

Levels 1–4: Continuing-education credits applied for with the German Psychotherapy Chamber.

Level 1: Accreditation with the German Medical Chamber is planned.

Outside Germany: Participants can apply individually for recognition with their own professional body or licensing board (e.g. for CE/CME credit). The certificate states contents and instructional hours for this purpose.

01

CMHPC™ Foundation

Acting Professionally with Parents under Mental Health Strain in the Interest of Their Children

97 instructional hours · OnlineTheoretical Qualification · No Program License

What You Will Learn

The Foundation is the entry point – and at the same time the foundation on which everything else is built. Across seven modules, you develop a deep understanding of what is really happening in distressed family systems: how mental illness affects parent-child relationships, how attachment patterns shape parenting behavior, and how to identify when a situation exceeds what counseling can provide.

The Foundation deliberately does not qualify for program delivery. Instead, it creates what no counseling program can replace: a genuine understanding of the systems you are working with. Level 1 is a self-study course: instructional videos, accompanying scripts, and automatically scored knowledge tests, without supervision. Subject-related questions about the course content can be asked by email. The certificate is issued upon successful completion of all module tests and the final knowledge test. Fully online, flexible in timing, without interrupting your professional practice. Completion period: 12 months, extendable by 6 months on request; access to the learning platform for 18 months from activation.

CMHPC™ High Conflict Specialist

High Conflict Specialist – License Extension

110 instructional hours · HybridLicense Extension: One Way Compass

What You Will Learn & Acquire

High-conflict co-parenting situations present unique challenges even for experienced professionals. Level 3 provides the tools needed in these situations: a specialized program with three differentiated goal pathways, depending on the level of escalation. You learn to recognize dynamics before they escalate and to offer structures that protect children, even when parents cannot communicate with each other.

The program offers three equivalent delivery formats: the standard format with joint sessions from Phase III, the separate continuation of both parental tracks, and the single track when only one parent takes part. The other parent’s willingness to participate is not a prerequisite; the single track has its own realistic goal. The program does not replace legal mediation and contains no legal advice. It operates on the psychological and communicative level, consistently child welfare-centered.

Products & Licenses

The CMHPC™ Programs

The two counseling programs of the CMHPC™ system are theory-based, structured and manualized counseling programs exclusively accessible to licensed professionals. As independent works they are legally protected. They close a gap between general parenting and separation counseling on one side and treatment or court proceedings on the other.

The Working Model

The MEBR Model

Multi-Level Model of Parental Strain and Regulation Dynamics

M · E · B · R

Patterns  ·  Emotion & Tension  ·  Appraisal  ·  Response

The MEBR Model integrates established concepts from cognitive-behavioral, emotion, systemic and attachment research into an organizing instrument for counseling practice. It describes how parental stress dynamics emerge and repeat across multiple levels simultaneously and makes them workable in sessions with parents.

The MEBR Model is the central working and explanatory instrument of both CMHPC™ programs. It describes how distressing family situations arise and why they recur, driven by the interaction of multiple levels. This is especially pronounced in parents with heightened vulnerability due to mental instability or substance use disorders.

As a theory-guided development of the Institute for Mental Health Parenting that does not claim to be a theory in its own right, the MEBR Model forms the structural foundation for intervention planning, situation analysis with parents, and the management of the entire counseling process. It is mandatory in both programs and can only be learned within the CMHPC™ training.

Both programs are clearly time-limited, have a defined beginning and a defined end, and feature integrated evaluation instruments. Progress and goal attainment are documented with these instruments and feed into the ongoing scientific evaluation of both programs.

MPatterns of recurring stress situations in the family system
EEmotion and physical tension as a response level
BAppraisal as a cognitive processing mechanism
RResponse as visible behavior and starting point for change

Counseling Program Level 3 · License Extension

“One Way Compass – One Path. One Goal. Our Child.”

For high-conflict separation and divorce situations from escalation level 3 onward (Glasl). The program works with both parents in separate tracks and, where the conditions are met, in joint sessions; if only one parent takes part, the single track is delivered with its own goal. The goal is not parental reconciliation – but removing the child from the conflict.

License Extension · CMHPC™ High Conflict Specialist

Program Standards & Quality

  • Based on Glasl’s escalation model, systemic conflict theory, attachment theory & communication models (Watzlawick, Schulz von Thun)
  • Three differentiated goal pathways depending on escalation level
